Tweets now self-destruct with the Efemr web app, which grants users the option to remove their tweets after a specific length of time set. The application works by limiting the shelf-life to a tweet using hastags. Entering #5 will mean a tweet’s lifespan is a mere five minutes, and #1h will have the post live on Twitter for an hour before it is removed. The aim of the online tool is to give users an option to protect their “e-reputation.” This new form of erasable social media has proven popular with apps such as SnapChat, a formula that Efemr has chosen to follow.
