More, Better Content Drives Demand for Better, Faster Service

I had water in my eyes when I read about the throughput performance of the new MS/Facebook underwater cable and thought about asking Zuck if he could give me just a tiny, tiny fraction of that capacity. It would make my OTT viewing on any device so beautiful. It's not just that the Internet in the U.S. is "a little behind" many countries but when it comes to mobile stuff it's not only slow but expensive (compared to lots of places). And if you use too much of that unlimited data service you'll find out it's unlimited but can also slow down when you reach "their" limits. Of course it's okay because even though the government lowered the definition of high speed Internet people like Netflix, Hulu have figured out how to give you flicker free content on even low capacity pipes. And when 5G mobile arrives in a few years things will be fast enough for you to watch 4K/HDR...probably more expensive than elsewhere but fast.

New M&E Industry Advances Put Viewer in Charge

Content owners don't really like Netflix that much - oh sure they take their money but still. They know they can do better by going direct to the viewer with their own newer stuff through oh Hulu, Roku, someone/anyone but the grocery delivery guy (Amazon). It all sounds terribly profitable except for the fact that you need to promote all of that stuff to get viewer attention. The content noise is getting really, really loud and all I want to do is watch my stuff on my screen at the day/time I want to watch it. Let's not leave the consumer out of the equation!
