The New Breed of Filmmaker, Content Consumer in 25 Years

Dec. 27, 2016

Every year folks peek behind the curtain and tell you what stuff is going to take place next year and what technologies/products are going to succeed...and fail. Jeezz might as well skip the year. Not me. Nope I want to give you an idea of what the tomorrow way out there is going to look like 25 years from now, specifically entertainment. That way if you make money in the industry you can speed up or adjust your course to be ready to succeed in a big way. If you're just an entertainment consumer then you can prepare yourself for how good things are going to be. If I'm a little wrong come back in 25 years and I'll graciously accept your gottcha comment. If you ignore my crystal ball projections do it at your own peril!

The Smart Home Puzzle is Missing a Few Pieces

Dec. 21, 2016

Sometimes I wish I wasn't such an optomist and looked at marketing statements of fact with skepticism. But it's just not the way I'm built...especially when it comes to technology. For three years I've listened to the pitches on how good my life was going to be once I moved into a smart house. I've listened to the fairytales keynote speakers and marketing folks gave me at CES. Since the wife said we're not moving I figured I might as well "upgrade" our lovely home. All I can say is I've got a lot of questions to ask when I visit the show in Vegas in a few weeks. Or to put it nicely...your mileage may vary!

Nov. 15, 2016

When millenial marketing types entered the business world social media, customer relations were just beginning to mature and they had a firm hand on what it took to reach, persuade/convince the consumer. Then the Gen Zers came along and devices, constant connections weren't somthing to be learned they were things they were born with...it was all second nature to them. Social Media is the Customers’ Domain, Not Marketing’s

Nov. 15, 2016

Back in the dark ages when social media was in its infancy people set up locations where other people could go to exchange information, ideas, likes/dislikes. Then they discovered they needed to make a living doing their work and people who invested in them wanted to make money. BAM! marketing entered the picture to advertise their stuff. In no time social media places became overwhelmed with ads and other marketing messages to convince folks to buy. Of course listening to the online community wasn't part of the bargain. The unruly online community took up arms and took back their domain asking - no demanding - that companies listen to them, hear them, answer them or else! Customer folks are reasonable as long as the conversation flows both ways. If not...you'll hear about it!

Post Production – The Drudgery Part of VR Filmmaking

Nov. 15, 2016

Shooting, producing a VR film sounds terribly romantic. Heck filmmaking itself sounds like a whale of a lot of fun rubbing elbows with studio bigwigs, stars, living the fast life...what could be a better way of making a fab living? Ask most filmmakers and they'd probably say just about anything would be more "fun" because it's a lot of work juggling everything to educate, entertain your audience. VR film production is even worse because you're venturing into a totally new area where the viewer suddenly is part of the action and if you think actors are unpredictable viewers are worse. And there's no safety net because it's a new frontier. Hard, exciting but talented people are mastering the new arena for people to enjoy.
